The food was amazing! Literally everything on the plate was good. I got the hanger steak and my wife got the smoked chicken. We have been in town on vacation for 3 days and this place by far has the beat food we have had so far. Even though we usually try to do a different restaurant each night when we go on vacation, we will be doing the rest of our dinners on this trip here because it is so good. I didn't get our server's name, but apparently she is the cools daughter. I loved that when I asked her for a recommendation she didn't give me the usual "oh it's all good" nonsense. She told me what was good and it was great! I asked to speak to the manager so that I could tell him how much we enjoyed the meal and he (Mark) was super friendly and seemed like he really took pride in his restaurant. 100% recommend going here :)

I had an updated review from May 2019. I do not know where it went. I took my grandmother in for her birthday in May. She was turning 90? She was a testy old lady who I loved very much but was at times hostile, mean. Well, I had no idea what was coming. We were seated by a gentleman who was to be our waiter. He was soooo patient. Halfway through the evening I had to pull him aside and let him know "I am sorry my grandma is being so abusive, I do not understand her motives, I am so sorry!" He replied that it was "OK" and I said "No, it is not ok!" and he assured me he was ok and could handle it. I am glad I did this because she then proceeded to call him an idiot again and asked if he was always this stupid. She chewed him up and spit him out. I sunk my head into my hands. I had not prepared for this emotionally. He took the entire event with stride like he went to a seasoned grouchy old lady bootcamp. As mortified as I was, I gave him well over 100 dollar tip and said I am really sorry for my grans attitude. She passed away in 2021. I later earned the hardships of her youth and how it shaped her world. I have a lot more compassion for older folks now after seeing this waiter roll with it so well. I learned the QTIP method. Quit Taking It Personal. This waiter definitely showed the kind of patience and grace we should all be so lucky to have and show. He could have kicked us out and would have been well within his rights to do so. So, thank you HQB&G for being the last place I would take my grandmother out to eat and making it less dramatic. She might have been a mean old lady but she was also the sweetest lady in the world underneath. RIP Noni 05/05/2021

Still one of my favorite places to eat in all of Santa Cruz County! We went with friends last night and sat in the bar, service by Kyle was excellent. I went too far with the warm bread with cold butter, we had to order another . I picked the Fettuccini Alfredo and my hubby picked their Flat Iron Steak Special and then we shared with each other. I didn't think to take a pic til near the end. My pasta was soooooo good, it was the perfect Alfredo, I love when that happens! I don't think I've ever ordered it there before, but now I know. The steak was tender and juicy and topped with gorgonzola butter and cooked just right. When we were done eating I could have laid right on the table and gone to sleep, it was such a delicious and satisfying meal.

Great lunch on Thursday. The bartender (owner?) was attentive and lovely. Ribs, mahi mahi picatta (best we have ever had, fresh and delicious, cleaned the plate), and a cheeseburger with mushrooms. Everything was on point. Will be back.

The Food was as great as I was told. It is an Old Fashion style Bar and Grill with a very Local feel. The teo meals I had there were the Pork chops and the second time the Seafood. The Pirk Chops were exceptional and the pirtions were generous. The Seafood was excellent and next I will try the Dinner Salads. The Staff are so friendly and wuick to please. I will return. Came here for a birthday dinner and had a really solid meal. My boo got the New York steak with a baked potato and a weekly appetizer special shrimp cocktail. He definitely enjoyed his meal. I got the steak pasta which had a delicious creamy sauce that had tomatoes mushrooms and capers. The steak was cooked to my liking and the aperol spritz topped it off. This place is a little unassuming but it's a very solid spot.

It's been quite some time since I've eaten at Hindquarter so the bf and I decided to give it a go for a late afternoon lunch. Our waitress was very kind and attentive. We ordered chicken wings as an appetizer. They didn't have buffalo available so we ordered Thai sweet chili. They were pretty good. I only wish the serving was more than 5 wings. I would have happily paid more for a few more wings to make it a shareable serving. For my entree, I ordered the prime rib which came with mixed vegetables and a baked potato. My bf ordered the hanger steak with mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables and onion strings. Neither meal was remarkable, but they weren't bad. An iced tea, coke, appetizer and two meals came in under $100. That was a pleasant surprise. Hindquarter won't be added to our list of go to's, but it's certainly not a never go again.
